Album Review: My Chemical Romance – Conventional Weapons: Number Two

MCR’s 2nd Conventional Weapon

Titillating their army of fans month-by-month with songs of old, My Chemical Romance have released the second batch of tracks off of ‘Conventional Weapons’.

Musically, ‘Ambulance’ is teetering more towards the anthemic brilliance of ‘Danger Days’ with its no-holds barred pop-rock hooks. Its thunderous onslaught of a chorus makes for one of the New Jersey rockers most catchy songs to date and it boggles the mind as to why on earth this unearthed gem never made it onto ‘Danger Days’ (surely it’s better than the likes of ‘S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W’?)

‘Gun’ is probably more worthy of a B-Side, but its content is a welcomed nod to the characters from ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ and from ‘Danger Days’ too – a raucous blast from the past.

4.5 Stars.
