Album Review: My Chemical Romance – Conventional Weapons: Number Three

Three ‘n’ Uzi..

It’s three ‘n’ easy for the former Killjoys as they release their third ‘Conventional Weapon’ bundle.

Although it’s radically different from the previous instalments of the forgotten album, ‘The World Is Ugly’ and ‘The Light Behind Your Eyes’ are both packed full of the sombre grandeur that benefitted ‘The Black Parade’ so well.

‘The World Is Ugly’s inclusion isn’t a great surprise since its live debut a few years ago, proving to be one of the bands’ finest rock ballads, but the haunting acoustic gem that is ‘The Light Behind Your Eyes’ eclipses that with Gerard Way’s soft vocals accompanying Iero and Toro’s tenderly ominous acoustic tones. It makes for a truly unique song in what is becoming a vast back catalogue for one of the world’s biggest bands.

Number Three isn’t quite as fun as its predecessors but it’s the most unique of the three thus far.

3.5 Stars.
