Album Review: My Chemical Romance – Conventional Weapons: Number Four

How much wood could a woodchop chop…

It’s that time of the month again.

The boys from New Jersey have set guitars to overdrive and put their distortion pedal to the metal for ‘Kiss the Ring’ and ‘Make Room!!!!’

Similar in sound and substance, ‘Kiss the Ring’ struts its stuff with some heavy, fast-paced riffage, forcing you into submission as you hail to the kings.

‘Make Room!!!!’ isn’t as memorable as its ‘A-side’, but it makes for a decent blast from the past with its fierce punk tone.

Both tracks heavily sound like songs slowly leading to ‘Danger Days’, ‘Make Room!!!!’ even has echoes of ‘Na Na Na‘ as Gerard Way muffles out: “Everybody wants to change the world, but no-one wants to die’.

Again, it’s hard to understand why My Chemical Romance scrapped Conventional Weapons and all its respective concepts. By the sounds of this particular duo, the bands confidence is sky-high with a newfound badass attitude to boot.

3.5 Stars.
