Ilan Rubin’s New Regime

There’s a new regime in town.

For some of the world’s biggest bands, Ilan Rubin is their secret weapon.

His drumming expertise has seen him grace musical behemoths such as Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves and most recently, pop punk goliaths, Paramore.

The New Regime, is Rubin’s own personal one-man army, every instrument and every note is incredibly strummed, drummed and sung by the man himself.

With two solo albums already under his belt (‘Coup’ and ‘Speak Through the White Noise’), instead of releasing a third album, The New Regime will release a series of E.P’s, referred to as ‘Exhibits’.

Regarding the Exhibits series, Rubin explains: “When it came time for a third release, I had enough material for almost two full-lengths. But, unlike my first two albums, these songs weren’t written with a definitive vision in mind. I realized that this broader spectrum of ideas was an exciting thing – I could release the music as a series of EPs. I call them ‘Exhibits’ – a collection that I can and will constantly be adding to.”

The first in the series, ‘Exhibit A’, will be released worldwide May 7th, 2013 and can be previewed here.

Describing ‘Exhibit’s first instalment, Rubin says: “With Exhibit A, I wanted to continue to push my songwriting in multiple directions, while keeping songs direct and concise,” says Rubin, “I always like to keep music moving in various directions and have the listener guessing for what’s next. Sonically, the material on ‘Exhibit A’ lent itself to both very organic sounds as well as quite a bit of electronics, which I’d say resulted in a pretty unique body of work.”

With The New Regime’s Exhibits sounding fresh, unique and exciting, it might prove to be the making of one of the world’s most talented musicians.

Also, keep an eye out for Ilan on Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails upcoming world tour.
