The Avengers: Age Of Ultron – James Spader is Ultron

Ultron, James Ultron.

The head honchos over at Marvel Studios seem to be doing their best to rain on DCs parade with arguably the sequel’s biggest casting news yet.

James Spader will play the titular villain Ultron, a psychotic sentient robot hell-bent on obliterating Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and, well, the rest of humanity.

Returning director Joss Whedon has already stated that Ultron will have a different origin story which will likely see Tony Stark (and JARVIS) create him, rather than his original creator, Hank Pym/Antman.

We’re guessing that NBC’s The Blacklist star will provide the voice of Ultron or provide motion-capture like Mark Ruffalo did to play The Hulk in the previous film since Ultron is an incredible robotic specimen that possess super strength, super speed, near invulnerability, flight, energy-blasts and a nasty power called the “encephalo-ray”, which places victims into a deathlike coma.

Regarding the villain, Joss Whedon stated:

“He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff.”

Fellow villain Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in Thor, The Avengers and the upcoming Thor sequel – Thor: The Dark World, tweeted his support to Spader.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron destroys theatres May 1st, 2015.
